Kinect Camera Tripod Mount with Embedded Threaded Insert
thingiverse
To create a sturdy camera mount for MakerBot's artist-in-residence, Kyle McDonald, I used 1/4-20 threaded inserts and Tinkercad to design the model with tight tolerances. Rather than mechanically trapping the insert, I filled cavities around it using the extruder like a hot glue gun for secure hardware placement. After printing the mount body, place the insert, fix it with the extruder, clean countersunk holes on the back, sand rough spots and fasten four M3x12mm bolts to mount Kinect carefully.
