I enjoy reading at night before drifting off to sleep, but I often forget to charge my Kindle. I created a simple dock that can be attached to the nightstand using a couple of 3M Command strips (or any preferred adhesive). When finished reading, I place the Kindle into the dock, and it charges. I didn't devise an ideal method for securing the cable, but I've glued it with two-component epoxy glue, and wrapped the cable/hole with fabric for added strength. It works quite well so far. The design isn't visually appealing, but since it's on the underside, no one will notice. This dock is specifically designed for the 1st generation Kindle Paperwhite with its original cover attached. However, it may also work for other models as well.
