The ruins of Kincardine O'Neil Old Parish Church tower above the village on Aberdeenshire's southeast side. Constructed around 1330, the church was ravaged by flames in 1733 and underwent significant renovations in 1799. Further repairs were made in 1846, but the structure was abandoned and left exposed to the elements in 1862. Consolidation efforts took place in 1931, and Aberdeenshire Council successfully restored and stabilized the church in 2017. Originally dedicated to St Erchard and the Virgin Mary, this historic site is said to be the final resting place of St Erchard, a local disciple of St Ternan who lived in the late 6th century AD. The north entrance, now sealed off, features an impressive Norman arch dating back to the 14th Century AD.
