The Coney Island Scan-A-Rama is a 21st-century portrait studio that combines amusement park portraiture with modern 3D printing technology. In 2013, it set up a popup 3D portrait studio at MakerFaires and in Coney Island. The public debut of the Scan-O-Tron 3000 scanning rig took place on June 8, 2013, at Danbury Makerfaire. The scans were of exceptional quality. The creator is launching a Kickstarter for Scan-A-Rama and plans to open source the project's blueprints; stay tuned. When printing, use layer heights of .27 or .1 mm without support for a great result that may require minor trimming.
