Kilauea Crater
thingiverse
Kilauea Crater built with meticulous precision from precise 2-meter resolution LiDAR data courtesy of NOAA's extensive archives. Initially, the source dataset boasted a staggering 1 million data points, resulting in an STL file boasting an impressive 12.5 million facets or polygons. This substantial size necessitated multiple attempts to obtain a file compact enough for upload. Utilizing cutting-edge software specifically designed for processing LiDAR data, I successfully created this detailed model from data collected back in 2005.
