kids ride-on tractor wheel damper/coupler/insert
thingiverse
This is a replica of a damper/coupler/insert utilized within kid's ride on toys, specifically connecting the rear wheel to the drive motor. This particular design is intended for John Deere tractors. Over time, the rubber component will eventually degrade into fragments. I'm fairly certain that an authentic replacement can be obtained online for approximately twenty dollars plus shipping charges. However, witnessing the fabrication of this piece right in front of your kids' eyes yields a more captivating experience. In the past - long before owning a 3D printer became an option - I used to cut out similar parts from ½-inch thick plywood, and it managed to function adequately for two or three consecutive seasons. However, the plywood eventually began to disintegrate. Consequently, I opted to design and print this piece using a 3D printer. I've employed ABS plastic for its durability and versatility in assembly. Without any necessity for filing or fine-tuning adjustments, it assembles seamlessly. To replicate this component, simply print from ABS plastic or opt for Ninjaflex if available, maintaining a 0.25 mm layer height and 90% infill rate. A single print should suffice per wheel, but I printed two units, one for each side to ensure smooth operation.
