Replace BMW E46 kidney grill mounting clips for a quick fix. These flexible lips can become brittle over time, causing the grills to lose grip. To replace all six clips on each grill is difficult as they need to be flexible enough to push in. Use two different thicknesses of replacement clip: 2mm and 2.5mm. Trim broken mounting lips down to 1mm above their base, then insert the clips into the cavities. Only populate top and bottom sites, not sides. Position top grill at an angle with top clips in place below square bent metal lip from bonnet. Push grill in place slowly, aiding with screwdriver if needed. Ensure each metal lip sits on flat edge of clip wedge. Warning: If printed with PLA, clips may come loose under heat; check regularly. Save money by replacing kidney grills yourself.
