Kidde Smoke Detector Mounting Adapter, remix
thingiverse
I replaced my 10-year-old kid-friendly smoke detectors and discovered that the new ones weren't compatible with the old mounts. As a result, I had two options: either relocate the detectors or patch up the AC connection in the junction box. While searching for a solution online, I stumbled upon https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1416038, which seemed like the perfect fix. However, my inner ring perfectly fit inside the 1.5" hole of my old mount, so I had to shave off some material from the upper shape to make it fit. After resizing the upper cylinder, I found that the edge of the inner piece was too large to fit inside the junction box. To fix this issue, I carefully trimmed off a small amount from the edges and removed any unnecessary materials from the base.
