kid bike chain guard (14" wheels)
thingiverse
My kid just got a 14" bike and he broke the chain guard right off the bat. I prefer his little fingers attached, so I came up with this design to keep him away from moving parts. One version has flames on it if your kid is radical enough to need extra flair. You'll need a large bed to print this (300mm), or you might be able to squeeze it out by printing the part at an angle to get full reach or chopping off the flat tail section and using a thin cutting board for the top or a 1" piece of PVC pipe cut to fit and riveted in place. I just took measurements from the existing part and will reuse the bracket, drilling holes to mount it and securing the back with zip ties. To get maximum awesome, drill backwards through the part to melt a hole through. V1 - Too thin, removed V2 - Thicker and rounded surfaces for better printing V3 - Reduced the curve on the surface of the tail portion to minimize layer lines. I'm not a designer; I'm just a dad who can use tinkerCAD okay. Please modify as you see fit.
