KGA-Velm - Lochaxt
sketchfab
This fragment of a prehistoric stone tool was discovered during our excavation research in the area of the Velm earthwork enclosure (Himberg municipality). Earthwork enclosures are a phenomenon of the Middle Neolithic period (4900 - 4500 BC) and occur frequently in Hungarian, Austrian, Bohemian, and eastern German lowlands. The Velm earthwork enclosure has been extensively studied by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Archaeological Prospection and Virtual Archaeology over the past few years using non-destructive methods and is now considered one of the best-researched sites in Austria.
