Harland David Sanders, born on September 9, 1890, was an American entrepreneur who founded Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), a fast food chain known worldwide. He initially worked in various jobs before starting to sell fried chicken from his North Corbin, Kentucky roadside restaurant during the Great Depression. It was then that he developed his "secret recipe" and patented pressure fryer cooking method. Realizing the potential of franchising, Sanders opened the first KFC franchise in Utah in 1952. After closing his original restaurant, he focused on expanding the chicken franchise across the United States. Today, his name and image still symbolize the brand.
