KeyThing - Key and Multi-Tool Holder

thingiverse

This design is a remix of the [Proteus Key Holder (Regular Size)](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2749745) by ProteanMan. His keyholder is super awesome, functional and stylish. What's New? The point of this remix is to add a convenient holder for my favorite multi-tool that I like to carry with my keys. It's a "Kershaw PT-2 Compact Keychain Pry Tool". I used to have it on a ring with all my keys, but it was not easy to use when attached to other stuff. So I wanted a way to carry it with my keys, but rapidly attach/detach for use. How does it work? The PT-2 has a 3 Hex wrench section. I've created an 'attachment tower' which will slide through the larger end of the hex hole and then can be pushed sideways into the smaller section of the hole. A ridge along the body of the key-holder locks the multi-tool in place keeping it secure. To remove, you push down on the pointy end of the PT-2 and slide off that ridge. Note that I've included 2 versions of the top - one that shouldn't be too snug, and one that is very very snug. Choose what you like based on your printer, material and hand strength. What to print: Required: 1 x Top (Normal or TightFit) 1 x Bottom Optional: N x Spacers - This will vary based on preference and key height. 3 x Bolts 3 x Nuts Note: This is my first attempt at making nuts and bolts. They can do the job but require some extra effort getting them to fit, tightening without stripping, etc. etc. Your life would probably be easier if you bought bolts like ProteanMan suggests in his [Proteus Key Holder](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2749745). I had to do a good bit of clean up around the bolt holes in order to make the printed bolts fit. How to Print: Note: These are just how I did it. There may be other good approaches. Print Settings: Top: 0.2mm layer height. Lay Flat, Tree Supports, Brim, 60% infill Bottom: 0.2mm layer height. Lay Flat, No Supports, Brim, 60% infill Bolts: 0.12mm layer height. Head on bed, No Supports, Brim, 100% infill Nuts: 0.12mm layer height. Lay Flat, No Supports, Brim, 100% infill Spacer: 0.2mm layer height. Lay Flat, No Supports, Brim, 100% infill Material: I used Sunlu PLA+ Black. Expect that the mechanism will work well with anything not too squishy. Hope someone else out there happens to have this multi-tool and finds this useful! If you do, please share a make. If not, I'd be interested in seeing other designs for different tools.
