Keystone, crafted from granite in the manuelino style, dominates a large surface featuring an intricate decoration that showcases the "Cross of Christ" star-studded and encircled by a rope-like design. On its side, remnants of the arches' origins remain visible. Description of the archaeological site: This monumental piece originated from the Chapel of São Jorge within the Church of Santa Maria do Bispo, established at the onset of the 14th century. As the principal and largest church in Montemor-o-Novo, it underwent a comprehensive reconstruction between 1529 and 1534 in the Manuelino style (a late gothic variant). This renovation left behind minimal traces of the medieval structure. By 1843, with the transfer of the parish to a location outside the walls, the church fell into disrepair and decayed rapidly. Today, only part of the facade remains intact, boasting its Manuelino portal and the opposing end's walls. This archaeological treasure is proudly housed within the collection of the Archaeological Museum of Montemor-o-Novo.
