Keyport xacto Blade

Keyport xacto Blade

thingiverse

My first thing on Thingiverse. I was let down that keyport didn't have a knife blade in their lineup so I created one myself, using the keyport head from Belfry's Slide Blade Key Generator and the concept of embedding the blade into plastic from foofoodog. A #11 xacto blade embeds perfectly into the keyport head, but it is not removable. To print this successfully, you need to pause the print just before the blade starts to bridge over where it goes, so I added some supports in place to keep the blade from falling out during the rest of the print. I've found that leaving the blade sitting on the print bed to warm up before putting it into the print gets the best results. I recently cleaned up the scad file significantly and added a new STL for a #25 blade, which I think is a slight improvement over the #11 in terms of durability and general use. Here are my print settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer Model: ormerod 2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.25mm Infill: 100% I printed with a layer height of 0.25mm, though anything that gives an even 0.50mm for the blade should work (e.g. 0.125mm or 0.1mm). You need to insert a pause in the gcode to put the blade in place, mine was at 2.2mm. For my reprap I used: G1 X100 Y150 Z2.2 F2000; move head out of the way M226; pause Be cautious when inserting the blade, it's sharp!
