Keyless - Protection Box for Car key

Some cars use the keyless go system. You don't need to click your car key to open your car door and start the engine, because your car recognize the car key.

There is one problem with this new feature. Thieves use this feature to steal your car, without you noticing. For example, your car key is on your table at home. A thief can go close to your appartment from the outside, use a system (kind of a repeater) that get the signal from your car key and send this signal to his colleague, who is standing next to your car and receives the signal. Now your car think the car key is right there and they can open the car door, start the engine and drive away.

To see how it works in reality, there are some examples on YouTube, like this one:

<oembed url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bR8RrmEizVg"></oembed>

Maybe this thief method will not work with every car, but who knows.

To solve this kind of problem, you have to shield your car key like maybe in a microwave or … a 3D-printed box, with aluminum foil inside. So I designed exactly this kind of box.
But before I will give you some details to this box, I want to let you know, that I don't have a keyless go car key. So I can't prove the conecept of this box. If someone of you have a keyless go car key and want to try it out, please let me know. And if it doesn't work, maybe I was able to draw your attention to this topic.

Notes to the 3D-Printed Box:

First of all, so simple this box looks like, so tricky it is.

Print the Inside Box and Outside Box with a Layer height of 0,3 mm.

Print the Covers for the Boxes with a Layer height of 0,2 mm. If you want to print it with 0,3 mm, you will see the problem at the slicer, because the wall thickness is thin.

That was the easy part. Check.

The tricky part is to insert the aluminum foil in each box. Cover the inside of both boxes with aluminum foil. Maybe you need some trials, befor you like the result. You can also use some glue sticks, to fix the alumium foil on the wall.

The edge cover for the boxes is designed in this way, that you can fold down the aluminum foil on the edge, after this you can put the cover on the aluminum edge.

You can also glue the cover, with the aluminum foil on the 3D-printed Box, to hold it in position.

I didn't designed holes for wall mounting and also no handle to grap the inner box.

To get the inner box out of the outside box, you can just rotate it downwards.

You can also create a remix of the boxes, to add a wall mount, a handle and so on.
