thingiverse
Keyhole Pocket Inserts for woodworking and DIY projects. To create a flush fit, you'll need to drill a 1" Forstner style hole that's exactly 6.5mm deep - any less would be too shallow, while more could cause issues with the insert fitting properly. A 25mm (1") bit may work but will result in a much tighter fit. Using a drill press is recommended for drilling the hole, but it can be done by hand if you're careful and precise. The insert itself will be extremely tight and features ridges around its circumference to provide a secure grip on the wood. It's highly likely that it will need to be hammered into place. It's essential to get it right the first time because removing these inserts once installed is nearly impossible. Two screw holes are also provided, which accept #6 wood screws perfectly - these may be necessary if additional holding power is required. The insert can also be glued in place using an epoxy adhesive, which would provide a strong and lasting bond. The keyhole itself is designed to accommodate the head and thread width of at least a #8 pan head screw, making it compatible with common plastic drywall inserts. A thicker area within the keyhole allows for easier installation by leaving the wall screw slightly loose - as the object is seated into place, the screw will tighten, providing a secure hold.
