Keyholder with Loupe
thingiverse
There are countless fantastic key holders to print on this website (and others), and I have utilized one that was showcased on Thingiverse for a long time. However, it recently broke, and I desired one that would better fit my needs. So, this is my take on the millions of Swiss Army-style key holders available on Thingiverse. The USB component is essentially a failed attempt at creating a custom USB pen, while maintaining this black and red theme. I uploaded it anyway... Post-Printing What's Different? There were two things I really wanted in an everyday carry item: a loupe! As someone studying to become a machinist, I often need to focus on surface finish, burs, and chamfers. Having a small loupe is extremely handy. Even when working with 3D prints at home, a loupe is a great idea. I have four different loupes in total – I love loupes! Lastly, I needed a small knife... who doesn't? Assembly You will need: * 2 x M3 Locknut (Make sure it's a lock nut; otherwise, it might unscrew itself.) * 2 x M3 bolt with 20mm thread and a head with a diameter below 12.5 * (Optional) 1 x "30X Glass Magnifying Magnifier Jewelry Loupe" – Search for it on eBay; it will likely be the first item listed. * 1 x Knife small enough to not stick out, AND to be legally carried where you live! I am not responsible for anything you do! Do your research! What I'll use for mine Assembling the loupe: If you're not going to use a loupe or just keeping the metal frame, you can skip this. I simply used a pair of scissors to unscrew the small ring holding the glass, but be careful not to scratch the glass! Carefully push out the small glass without touching it too much. BE CAREFUL AROUND THE EDGES!!! If you bought it from eBay, its likely not the best quality, so the edges may be sharp! Put it in between the printed case. If you want to, you could add a small dip of glue, but screwing them together with the rest of the holder should hold them just fine. Done Next The keyholder: Insert the loupe, keys, and accessories. If you won't use a loupe, you can put more keys instead. Screw it all together, and we're done! Make sure that the screw makes contact with the rubber in the lock nut, so that it won't unscrew itself over time. What I would change or add I might make a little storage compartment instead of the loupe for those who won't use a loupe. If I revisit this, I might make it longer as well.
