Keychain Separator
thingiverse
If you're tired of fumbling with key rings when trying to remove items like USB flash drives or key fobs, try printing my key chain separator. These devices usually cost around seven US dollars on Amazon and can be separated with the push of a button, similar to this example. My version of the key chain separator is designed to be fully 3D printable without support. Instead of a button press, the pieces separate with a twist and pull motion that's unusual even in stuffed pockets. A simple locking mechanism ensures that it will only break apart when you want it to. If you need more key rings, consider printing this thing, where the "Rr" parameter controls the ring radius and "Ccr" is the ring thickness. Update on 2-9-18 I've improved the part clearance to provide extra room for inconsistencies in printing and discrepancies between printers. As a result, it has a slightly looser fit but requires less post-printing work and should be more accessible regardless of the printer's tolerances. Update on 2-18-18 I've further improved the fit of the two parts. Make sure to set your print resolution to 0.15 mm for best results.
