Print lenses with the thread facing upwards. To simplify threading, apply a slight "horizontal contraction" by adjusting the cura setting or equivalent feature in your slicer. I achieved success with -0.1 on my Ultimaker 2; however, Ultimaker 3/5 may require more adjustment due to varying tolerance levels among different brands.
