This is a straightforward tool used in key duplication. It works by filling each side with Sculpey (modeling clay) and pressing a negative of the key being copied into place between them. Once the key is removed, molten Wood's Metal or Field's metal is poured into the cavity to create a usable duplicate key. For more information on this process, check out the video at https://youtu.be/2qxm5tbR2YU. The tool is designed with printing in mind and features minimal slopes, overhangs, and bridges. It can be printed flat on the bed without any issues, but caution should be taken to prevent it from detaching or warping during the process (although mine did warp, it still functioned properly). Using a hard plastic like PLA is beneficial as it gives the tool more rigidity and makes key impressioning easier.
