Key Holder
thingiverse
I came across ProteanMan's "Proteus Key Holder" on Thingiverse, but unfortunately, my keys wouldn't fit. I decided to improve his design by adding features such as automatic spacer generation, text, and customization options that ultimately left me feeling overwhelmed. My previous version had engraved text, but I discovered that my Prusa i3 MK2 printer has a feature called Prusa Control that allows me to pause the print at specific layers and change filament. With this newfound ability, reading the text became much easier because it was embossed. If you're interested, I created a low-quality 18-second video showcasing the project's progress: https://youtu.be/Y8NdhHFux54 I'm still working on optimizing the computation time for this project and have yet to successfully implement the customizer. Currently, it only works on my computer. To replicate the design on your own machine, you'll need to download OpenSCAD from their website and run the script. I suspect that the issue lies in the number of surfaces generated, but even with reduced circle fragments for finger indentation and sphere fragments for the minkowski function, compilation time remains a concern. I believe that implementing a more efficient method for rounding edges using a bevel would significantly improve performance, but so far, my attempts at using beveling scripts have fallen short due to their inability to satisfactorily round complex objects.
