A green substitute for K-cups is available through a DIY process. To begin, purchase an acid brush from a hardware store's plumbing section and 300 mesh stainless screen from Metal Supermarket (http://www.metalsupermarkets.com/). You will also need DMC (from a fiberglass supplies store) for solvent welding. Print four parts: cup, lid top and bottom ring. Wear gloves and safety gear during the process. First, attach the bottom ring to the cup using an acid brush and liberal amounts of DMC. Let it harden for an hour. Meanwhile, cut a 300 mesh screen slightly under the OD of the top ring using the top ring as a template. Once the fit is right, place the screen in the bottom of the k-cup, held up by the bottom ring. Finally, slip in the top ring and secure it with DMC if necessary, sandwiching the mesh between the two rings.
