Kenwood to Icom mic hanger adapter
thingiverse
I love my Kenwood radios, but I prefer the old-style of mic hanger. Like the D700 used to have, and like Icom mics use. I find it's a lot more versatile and easy to hang up when you're not looking. This is an adapter that fits (tightly) on the back of a modern Kenwood (and maybe other brands) hand mic and provides a hook-compatible ring hanger. I've tested it on KMC-35, KMC-36, KMC-22 and MC-59 mics, but it probably fits others. By indexing with the tension buttons on the back, the hanger fits tightly and does not swivel around, as if the mic was designed this way. It also fits older KMC-14 style mics, but without anti-swivel indexing. I print mine in ABS for durability (good enough for off-road in a Jeep), but if you don't have extreme requirements, PLA or PETG would probably work as well. I have had the best luck printing it with the dimple side up and with supports. The U-shaped button slot works better with the supports necessary than the smaller dimples, which really need to be rather precise to do the work. Your mileage may vary though. Also note that I have some older KMC-35s that seem to have a much tighter-fitting hanger on the back, which can make it a bit of a chore to get the adapter on there. Make sure to clear out all the support debris to make it easier, but a little sanding of the surface might help as well.
