I designed this wrench when my Kenmore Water Softener control board went out and I had to manually run through the different rotary valve positions to do a manual regeneration. Print out the socket, I used PLA. It's designed to fit over the 60 teeth on the gear that turns the rotary valve and use a 1/2 inch ratchet wrench to turn the gear clockwise through its required positions! The gear and cam have five positions that it can be moved to: S = Service F = Fill BR = Brine BW = Backwash R = Rinse Here's the sequence to perform and the time to run at: Start Regeneration: 1. Move from "Service" to "Fill" (10 minutes or until water level in tank fills up to hit the floats shutoff). 2. Move from "Fill" to "Brine" for 116 minutes. 3. Move from "Brine" to "Backwash" for eight minutes. 4. Move from "Backwash" to "Rinse" for three minutes. 5. Move from "Rinse" to "Service" to put unit back in Service Mode. Be sure to only rotate clockwise and you can observe the current status of the valve via a small round hole on the motor bracket. Once you remove this bracket holding the motor by removing the three screws, you'll be able to use the socket to advance the gear to the desired location as shown by the plastic pointer.
