The KR-2, a miniature aircraft designed by Ken Rand in the early '70s, was an enhanced version of his successful KR-1 Experimental. Seating one pilot and either a passenger or copilot in side-by-side positions, it boasted a cruise speed of 120 mph and stall speed around 40 mph. Powered by a VW or Porsche inline engine with 75 to 90 hp and equipped with a fixed pitch 2-blade propeller, this aircraft was constructed by homebuilders using a wooden truss and plywood fuselage, wood wing structure, and composite wing skins made from micro-bead foam and fiberglass epoxy resin. A popular and successful model, the KR-2 featured animateable control surfaces, animating propeller, openable canopy for viewing instrument panel and seat arrangement, and retractable main landing gear into recessed bays in wings. Available in various formats and paint schemes.
