This meticulously crafted model boasts near-scale dimensions, textured surfaces, animateable control mechanisms, and retractable landing gear. The spinning propeller adds realism, while the openable canopy provides a glimpse of the detailed instrument panel, seating arrangement, and controls. This versatile model is available in diverse formats and paint schemes. Ken Rand's innovative design from the 1970s aimed to fulfill the demand for an economical, single-seat aircraft suited for amateur builders with minimal mechanical expertise. The lightweight structure, made of composite materials like micro-bead foam, fiberglass cloth, epoxy, and wood, was powered by a 36-75 horsepower VW engine. This enabled a cruise speed of 130 mph and a top speed of 140 mph. The 7.5-gallon fuel tank allowed for a range of up to 400 miles. Mechanically retractable landing gears ensured stability, and the aircraft measured 12 feet in length with a wingspan of 17 feet 6 inches.
