This scale model features textured surfaces, animatable control surfaces, and a retractable landing gear. The propeller is animated, while the canopy reveals the instrument panel, seat arrangement, and controls. Available in various formats and paint schemes, this homebuilt experimental plane was designed by Ken Rand in the 1970s for budget-conscious builders. Made from composite materials like microbead foam, fiberglass cloth, epoxy, and wood, the lightweight airframe is powered by a 36 to 75 horsepower VW engine, achieving cruise speeds of 130 mph and a top speed of 140 mph. With a 7.5-gallon fuel tank, it provides a range of up to 400 miles; its mechanical landing gear retracts for storage within the wing's recessed bays, and the aircraft measures 12 feet long with a wingspan of 17 feet 6 inches.
