Humans are frequently seen trying to outsmart alligators by submerging themselves in water, hoping to avoid being detected as prey. However, this tactic rarely works and often ends in disaster. The reason is that alligators have an incredibly keen sense of smell, which allows them to detect the slightest movement of their potential victims. They can remain submerged for up to two hours without surfacing, waiting patiently for unsuspecting humans to wade into their domain.
