An 18-19th-century helmet follows the distinctive Persian khula khud type of helmet shape. A pointed spike tops a semicircular helmet bowl, with two feather finials and a retractable nose guard at its front. Reinforced around its rim with corded fabric to protect the forehead, ears, and nape of the neck. Its surface is decorated with engraved and chased Persian ornamentation, originally gilded but now heavily tarnished from being silver-plated, making it even more resplendent. It could have been part of the equipment used by Persian cavalry serving in the Ottoman Empire's army.
