I required a strainer to separate the kefir granules. I aimed to keep the kefir granules in the container, so I only had to strain each cup. This is taller, allowing it to drain if necessary, and fits snugly into a water glass or one-pint jar. The openings are 2 mm in diameter, making it work effectively.
