Having young children during COVID 19 has led to many encounters outside or at a park where the kids are not allowed to play anything that involves them touching or passing something back and forth. To offer a play option that involves kids "throwing" something back and forth, I created this project.

To play get any sort of string or cord 10 feet long or longer. Tie a loop in each end and feed the cord through the "ball" and then thread the cord through the opening in the center of the handle, pull it through the hole in the side of the handle, and loop it around the handle. Each child only holds onto one handle at the end of the line, and by raising and lowering their end of the cord, the ball will slide back and forth from one handle to the other without either child touching the ball. The game actually works better the farther away from each other you are! If you need a little extra distance from the handle, you can loop the cord through the extra stoppers. Just sanitize the handle when you are done, or leave the handle with your friend for next time!

Print instructions

No supports are needed.

Print one ball per cord you are using, and two or more handles.

Lightly sanding the inner surface of the ball will make it slide a bit smoother on the cord.
