Macalister's 1945 study, no. 204, credits himself with an earlier article from 1939, where he first documented the stone. According to Macalister, the stone lies flat in a field at the upper end of Curraghmore West townland, though this has caused some confusion due to his incorrect identification of the location as East rather than West. The stone itself is described by Macalister as sandstone, measuring 1.17 x 0.71 x 0.38 meters in size. A small Latin cross pattee adorns one side of the stone, and the top appears to have been cut off without damaging any lettering. Macalister interprets this inscription as ANM MAGANN MAQI NUADAT.
