The human body is made up of a complex system that functions together to maintain life. The body's systems work in harmony to keep everything running smoothly. The heart beats about 100,000 times per day pumping blood throughout the body. It also pumps oxygen and nutrients to all parts of the body. The heart works tirelessly without rest or sleep. The lungs breathe air into the body supplying oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from the body. They work nonstop even while sleeping. The brain controls the entire human body sending messages through nerves that control movement, senses and emotions. It never stops working even when we are asleep.
