KB3D Makercoin! print in place!
thingiverse
I've been eager to create a unique coin design for some time now, combining the best of both print-in-place and traditional methods. To achieve this goal, I uploaded two files with distinct characteristics: one features 0.25mm gaps, while the other boasts 0.3mm gaps. The blue coin on display was printed using a 0.15 layer height and 0.25mm gaps, but unfortunately, it required some extra effort to free it from the build plate at the bottom. The outer ring didn't quite turn out as smoothly as I had hoped, likely due to my haste in printing it. In contrast, the red coin was printed with a 0.1 layer height and 0.3mm gaps, resulting in an effortless removal from the build plate. This one turned out perfectly at normal print speeds. While experimenting with these parameters, I'm confident that printing 0.3mm gaps using a 0.2-0.25 layer height will also yield excellent results, although I haven't had a chance to test it yet. If you decide to create your own coin design, be sure to share the details so we can all learn from your experience! Don't forget to like, share, and follow for more fun projects and tutorials!
