The KAZ-606 Soviet tractor boasts an innovative cab-less design, setting it apart from its predecessors. This groundbreaking vehicle features a sturdy all-metal enclosed two-seat cabin with two viewing windshields connected by a partition. The tractor is powered by a robust gasoline carburetor inline six-cylinder engine ZIS-120 (ZIL-157K) producing 90 horsepower at a speed of 2600 rpm, boasting a working volume of 5.5 liters. Behind the driver's seat lies a spacious berth, a pioneering feature on Soviet production trucks. Notably, the gear lever is situated on the right side of the steering column, and the parking brake is positioned to the left of the driver. The KAZ-606 was manufactured in limited batches, showcasing its exclusive nature. In contrast to its prototypes, the serial KAZ-606 boasts improved head lights placed in special niches at the lower part of the front wall of the cab, lending it a more stylish appearance. This enhancement sets it apart from its predecessors. Production of an advanced KAZ-606A modification commenced in 1962, boasting significant upgrades. The vehicle is equipped with a modernized 6-cylinder inline 5.5-liter engine (ZIL-157KYA), derived from the ZIS-120 engine but refined to increase compression ratio and crankshaft speed, as well as incorporating an advanced carburetor. This sophisticated engine upgrade enables it to produce 110 horsepower at 2,800 rpm, a notable improvement over its predecessor's 90 HP.
