Katanas are traditionally a Japanese curved single edge sword, typically measuring between 60 and 73 centimeters in length. One enthusiast recently created a full-size replica using a custom XXL Rostock Max 3D printer with some spare filament. The blade measures approximately 72 centimeters long, while the overall length is around one meter. This ambitious project took about two days to complete, resulting in a final weight of approximately 326 grams. Despite its fragile appearance, this 3D printed katana surprisingly holds up well against minor impacts. As far as I know, no other full-size 3D printed katanas have been created yet, making this an impressive achievement. If you're interested in attempting this project yourself, here are the steps to follow: 1) Acquire a 3D printer capable of printing objects one meter long. 2) Print the sword blade with three perimeters and zero percent infill. 3) Print the handle with three perimeters and twenty percent infill. 4) Join the blade to the handle securely. 5) Print the sheath with two perimeters and one percent infill.
