Katadyn BeFree Adapter for Bike Bottles (Zefal 1L, CamelBak)
thingiverse
This project allows you to mount a Katadyn BeFree water filter directly onto a Zefal or CamelBak bike bottle. You will need the following to make a functional BeFree bike filter bottle: 1) Katadyn BeFree filter (just the filter, you won't need the soft bag) 2) The printed adapter part (download and print) 3) A small o-ring: Size is Dash "028". This helps seal the BeFree filter to the adapter 4) [Semi-optional] A small check valve: This allows air to refill the bottle automatically. You don't have to install the check valve but it will mean you will have to unscrew the cap slightly every time after you squeeze water through the filter (there is no way for the bottle to fill back up with air otherwise). If you decide to install the check valve, you will need to purchase a specific check valve and then glue it in place. The link to the check valve is below. I found it best to score the black and white fitting nipples with a sharp knife and then broke them off with pliers. This prevents debris from getting into the valve (like, if you sand the nipples off or cut them off with a Dremel). You can also use the basic versions of the adapter (no check valve in caps) and then install a check valve or "duckbill" valve directly into your water bottle. Small duckbill valves are widely available on Amazon and you can drill a hole into your bottle and glue either a hard plastic check valve or a soft rubber duckbill valve into the bottle to allow air to refill it. You will probably need this if you are using the BeFree adapter on a CamelBak bottle. Drill a hole into your bottle and glue this into place. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09H6WN3NX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Safe travels and happy filtering!
