This grand structure served as a secure repository for the Imperial Regalia, the Bohemian/Czech crown jewels, sacred relics, and other precious royal treasures. Perched about 30 kilometres (19 miles) southwest of Prague above the village sharing its name, Karlštejn Castle is renowned for being one of the most celebrated and frequently visited castles in the Czech Republic.
