Thorvaldsen likely created a bust during his Rome visit in 1817-18, when he accompanied Ludwig I. of Bavaria. It remains unclear whether this bust actually depicts Count Seinsheim or Count Gustav von Ingenheim, with some suggesting similarities to more recent portraits of the count. The material used for the bust is also unknown. Karl August Joseph Maria, Count Donat Seinsheim (born 17 February 1784 in Munich – died 26 November 1864 in Munich) held positions as Bavarian Finance Minister and President of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies, also known as Präsident der Bayerischen Abgeordnetenkammer.
