I've recently updated my radial engine model with stunning 4K renders on July 14th, which are now placed in the PNGS folder. Friends, I am excited to announce that I have completed my intricate radial engine model and its accompanying renders. This masterpiece is a faithful 9-cylinder quarter scale representation of the renowned Wright J-5 Whirlwind, as per the detailed drawings by Jan Elg. Although I deviated slightly from the original blueprint when it seemed beneficial for form or function, the Solidworks 2013 model features all Mechanical Mates that allow you to rotate the propeller and explore every detail of the engine's workings, such as the valve train, intake blower, gearbox, distributor, planetary gears, and more. The only exception is the valve springs, which were included in the model but couldn't be fully simulated by Solidworks due to the limitations of 18 functioning valve springs. The model, excluding the carburetor and propeller, is a result of my hard work, while credit for the carburetor goes to Jan Elg and the propeller is from Grabcad user Usama. I'm generously sharing all my Solidworks 2013 files, including parts, assemblies, STEP, IGES, STL formats, and numerous high-resolution renders I created using Bunkspeed Shot. In total, my model comprises 1,627 parts with 1,451 unique bodies, 165 unique parts, 9 gears, and 33 assemblies, while the Solidworks 2013 file boasts 1,890 Mates. The polygon count in Shot is an impressive 13,906,643, and the time invested in creating this masterpiece was undoubtedly numerous hours.
