Karasu, known to many, translates directly to crow. Karasu-tengu, like its counterpart Oh-tengu, shares similarities with this bird. Notably, Oh-tengu features a lengthy nose while Karasu-tengu follows its namesake closely in form and features the beak of a true crow. It is proposed that fire is emitted from within this beak, positioned discreetly at the rear edge of the wing. Tengus revered by many are actually mummies, with sites throughout Japan dedicated to these enshrined figures.
