Kano External Audio Jack

Kano External Audio Jack

thingiverse

I purchased a Kano Build-Your-Own-Tablet kit several months ago and decided to convert it into a dedicated jukebox. The core component of the kit is a Raspberry Pi, which dictated my software choices. I discovered SilverJuke, however, which is available in the repositories or can be compiled from source, and found it to be nearly perfect. My only challenge was accessing the audio jack on the kit, as it is located inside the clear plastic case. To overcome this obstacle, I designed a simple gadget that clips into the oval opening where the original speaker was situated and accepts a panel-mounted 3.5mm stereo audio jack. A matching 3.5mm stereo plug is inserted through the hole in the adapter, with one end soldered to the jack and the other plugged into the audio jack on the Pi. In short, it's an audio expansion port for a Kano Tablet kit. I strongly recommend printing this design in the orientation presented. Although it may require extensive support, the layer lines are oriented perpendicular to the force lines on the clips, preventing them from breaking when clipping it into place. The lid is glued on after assembly. Due to a Thingiverse bug or possible shadowbanning, my models no longer appear under the Newest listings. If you want to see more of my designs, please make sure to follow me. Additionally, if you print this model, I would greatly appreciate it if you could post a Make so that others can find and access this design.
