Kankoboko - Gion Matsuri Float (20% Complete)

This is a preliminary assembly draft utilizing roughly 20% of our photogrammetry data for Kyoto, Japan's "Kankoboko." The Kankoboko is a major "hoko" (similar to a festival float) for Japan's largest cultural festival, Gion Matsuri. Through collaboration with the preservation crew that cares for the hoko year-round, we were granted access to capture extensive photogrammetry data as well as laser scans using the FARO Focus3D. We will be updating this model as we assemble the remaining data. This capture represents just one example of our comprehensive goal of utilizing 3D modeling and VR for cultural preservation and exposure in Kyoto, and Japan as a whole.
