"Kalip" Drill press (Dremel mount)
thingiverse
This model is my take on a Dremel-based drill press mount that I created in just one day using parts I had readily available. I designed and printed the entire thing myself, opting for a simple yet effective design that doesn't require linear bearings. Instead, I used 10mm smooth rods that make direct contact with the main carriage, which is secured by four tightening screws. The brackets for mounting the Dremel are modular and interchangeable, allowing me to easily switch out the press to accommodate different equipment. While I haven't created any other brackets yet, I'm happy to share my design files if anyone else wants to create their own versions that fit their specific tools - mine fits 50mm+/-3 tools. Here's what you'll need to build this drill press mount: * Four 175mm long, 10mm smooth rods * One 65...110mm long, M6 threaded rod * One 125mm long, M6 threaded rod * Eighteen M4 nuts * Seven M6 nuts * Two M3 nuts (or a thumb screw equivalent) * Eighteen 15mm long, M4 bolts (preferably Umbraco brand) * Two 25...40mm long, M3 bolts Optional parts include: * Eight mounting screws of your choice with a maximum head diameter of 8mm (I prefer coned wood screws) * Two springs with an inner diameter of at least 11mm, preferably 30...40mm long and reasonably strong Special thanks to MitchNajMitch for creating the gear and gear strip that I used as a starting point - I've remodeled them extensively but they provided a great foundation for my design. Printing this model: * Printer: Wanhao Di3 * Rafts: Not necessary * Supports: None required, as bridges are small and no external overhangs should be above 45 degrees * Resolution: 0.1mm...0.3mm * Infill: 33%...66% Post-printing: * I haven't completed the project yet, so you won't see the finished model here. * Optional springs are available as a bottom solution, and I may add an optional topside solution in the future. This is how I designed this drill press mount from scratch.
