KaliKooler (50mm fan adapter for Juwel Rekord 800 aquariums)
thingiverse
This was created specifically for Kali, who is 15+ years old and thriving in her safe environment within a aquarium prone to overheating on Amsterdam's occasional hot days when temperatures soar above 25 degrees Celsius. It allows a 50mm 12v fan to be mounted directly onto the feeding hatch hole of a Juwel Rekord 800 (100l) aquarium. To do this, simply use a standard 50mm 5/10/12/24v PC fan. Avoid using high voltage or pressure fans and try not to overdo it. The fan is mounted on a velocity stack sourced from here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:441251 - I scaled the provided STL by 125% and it worked just fine, but results may vary. - Then, I glued everything together and plugged it into a 12v wall-wart adapter that's connected to the tank's power bar. It runs quietly without any sort of intake guard, but since this tank is on public display, we added a simple guard and attribute the slight whine to tourists or noise from passersby. This design might also fit other similar or clone aquariums with a 136x120 gap, using a fan that fits into the space. The scad file allows you to parameterize these values if you want to adapt it for other models. It uses a fancy font for the text which can be either dropped (to the default font) or entirely removed, and look at the comments to install the font used, or any font from the same source that suits your taste.
