The Kaleidocycle Stands Alone for Its Ability to Rotate Continuously. Unlike Most Compliant Mechanisms That Can Only Flex Back and Forth Over a Limited Range, the Kaleidocycle's Members Move in a Continuous Rotation. While They Do Flex 240° in Each Direction Like Other Flexible Mechanisms, Their Arrangement Enables the Entire Mechanism to Rotate Perpetually. This Ability Was Once Reserved for Traditional Mechanisms Such as Bearings or Bushings That Were Thought to Be the Only Way to Achieve Continuous Rotation.
