K8400 fan duct clip - no screws or glue needed
thingiverse
Update: Please have a look at the MK2 version: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2552668. A fan duct for K8400 printer head from Vellemann helps print nicer overhangs and a great 3DBenchy compared to high-velocity or no duct at all. Added "fanV3_duct_k8400.stl" with extra PEEK blowout for two nozzles, and also added "fanV3_duct_k8400_rightonly.stl" for version with right nozzle only. Already includes additional outputs to blow against the PEEK cooler. More blowout is needed for metal-fill filaments. This design clips immediately onto the original fan. You may have to bend a bit the metal piece that holds the fan. Hopefully, this helps some people print nicer and more efficiently with their K8400 without making too many changes on the machine. I've used other fan ducts for my K8400 before, but this one is the most efficient for me. I highly recommend applying some stripes of Kapton tape onto the heater block. This makes heating more efficient and temperature measurement and control much more stable! Only a few layers are needed - no need to make a huge bulb around the nozzle! I think this is because of the gap and position of the temperature sensor. In the original setup, it will be cooled a bit by the fan. But this effect is minimized when winding some Kapton stripes around it. This design can be printed without supports - see print settings below. Printer: K8400 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.10mm to 0.15mm Infill: 15% Notes: Print this piece slow and with full fan speed for cooling and nice overhangs. I printed it at 40mm/s on K8400 with 210°C PLA at 0.1mm layer height.
