K8200 frame extension with spool holder
thingiverse
To combat filament breakage while printing tall objects due to low workshop temperature and a small bending radius, I devised a frame extension that increases distance from spool to extruder. The design consists of a socket for the frame with an extension on top, compatible with slots; the right side is extended for spool mounting, whilst the other sides have three mounting slots for accessories. Future enhancements include a dust remover add-on, second spool mount on rear side (requiring only a longer rod), and potentially webcam or light mounts. Printed in PLA with settings of concentric top and bottom fill, 2 shells, 3 layers (adding 2-3 for slim prints), 10% hex infill (15% if over 2 kg weight expected), and no support (using 190 degrees without issues). The fit is snug with two base screw holes unnecessary in my case. Inspired by #166023.
