K8200 ball bearings mounted leadscrew
thingiverse
I designed this Z axis with a leadscrew supported by two ball bearings. This assembly reduces gaps between parts of the axis and increases resolution. The two ball bearings also collect axial force in both directions, making it suitable for using the K8200 as a milling machine. However, this design requires machining of the leadscrew. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: K8200 / 3Drag Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.25 mm layer height Infill: 60% I designed this Z axis to achieve optimal results. The components used were: Leadscrew 8x300mm, 2mm pitch (Trapezoidal 8mm Lead Screw and Nut Kit) 5x5mm coupler (Coupler 5x5) Two 626ZZ ball bearings (626zz Ball Bearing) Firmware Requirements: The firmware needs to be modified. In the "Configuration.h" tab, enter the new default step per unit for Z axis on line 296, which should be set to 1600 for a 2mm pitch leadscrew. The parameter can also be calculated using the Leadscrew Calculator in Repetier-Host. After modifying the firmware, do not forget to reset the EEPROM in Repetier-Host or your printer will continue to use the old parameter and printings will fail.
