K8200/3drag z-axis leadscrew flexible motor coupler
thingiverse
This spring coupler is available in 5mm and 8mm shaft diameters. It's based on a parametric SCAD file that's included with the design. The coupler is a remixed version of one found on Thingiverse (link provided). It was created out of necessity until a metal replacement could be found. When assembling, note that there's limited clearance with the motor mount bolts, so M3 screws may need to be trimmed with a file or grinder. Using three M3 nuts on each screw can help achieve the right depth. The SCAD file produces non-manifold output, but it slices fine at the given settings. If you modify the design, ensure that the largest bore diameter is the #2 diameter (located at the bottom). The 5mm shaft may require minor drilling to clean up. The M3 nuts are slightly loose in the holes, but this doesn't affect performance. The printer used was Repetier 0.9, and support wasn't required. Print settings include PLA at 190C/55C, a 2mm brim, 0.3mm layers, 25% honeycomb infill, 70mm/s fill speed, 40mm/s perimeter speed for outer and tight perimeters, and an acceleration of 200mm/s. The print time is approximately 30 minutes.
